Im Jahr 1968, nur drei Jahre nach der Herstellung ihrer ersten Taucheruhr, setzte Seiko erneut Maßstäbe mit einer Hi-Beat-Taucheruhr, die bis zu 300 m wasserdicht war. Die Seiko Prospex Modern 1968 MarineMaster 300 Herrenuhr SLA021J1 44,3mm ist eine moderne Interpretation dieser ikonischen Uhr. Die Uhr war auch allgemein als MarineMaster bekannt und behielt die gleiche einteilige Struktur, die verschraubte Krone und die einseitig drehbare Lünette bei, die das Vorgängermodell so revolutionär machten. Das legendäre Seiko-Logo befindet sich bei 12 Uhr auf dem schwarzen Zifferblatt, mit einem gut ablesbaren Datumsfenster bei 3 Uhr. Sowohl die Zeiger als auch die Indizes sind lumineszent, was das Ablesen an dunklen Orten erleichtert, besonders in 300 Metern Tiefe unter der Wasseroberfläche. Schließlich ist eine dreifach faltbare Schließe mit Sicherheitsverschluss angebracht, die elegant ums Handgelenk passt. So ist die SLA021J1 eine beeindruckende Verschmelzung von Vergangenheit und Gegenwart und für fast jeden Anlass geeignet.
Für alle Seiko-Enthusiasten wurde diese Premium-Uhr in Japan hergestellt, was durch das Suffix „J“ angezeigt wird. Seiko-Uhren, die in Japan gefertigt werden, sind außerhalb Japans aufgrund der höchsten Handwerkskunst und der erstaunlichen Funktionen, die jede einzelne Uhr auszeichnen, schwer zu bekommen.
