La storia di Mondaine inizia nel 1944 con Hans Hilfiger. Era un ingegnere svizzero che lavorava per la stazione ferroviaria svizzera e decise di progettare un orologio che sincronizzasse l’orario di partenza di tutti i treni in arrivo e in partenza dalla stazione principale di Zurigo. Il risultato fu un orologio alimentato da un motore elettrico che controllava la lancetta permettendole una rotazione completa in 58,5 secondi. La lancetta rossa si fermava poi per 1,5 secondi e saltava in avanti per allinearsi di nuovo con la lancetta dei minuti, sincronizzandosi con l’orologio principale nella cabina del segnale. Deriva dai segnali rossi tenuti dai capotreno per segnalare ai passeggeri l’arrivo o la partenza di un treno dalla stazione.
Mondaine, fondata originariamente nel 1951, ha vissuto un periodo di successo dopo aver lanciato uno dei primi orologi da polso con visualizzazione digitale dell’ora e il primo orologio LCD nel 1957. Tuttavia, fu solo nel 1986 che il design dell’orologio delle ferrovie SBB iniziò a comparire sugli orologi da polso Mondaine. Dopo aver ottenuto le licenze necessarie, fu lanciato il primo orologio da polso con il design dell’orologio di stazione.
Il famoso quadrante bianco accompagnato dalla lancetta rossa dei secondi e dalle lancette nere di ore e minuti divenne poi un design senza tempo utilizzato non solo sugli orologi da polso, ma anche su orologi da tasca, sveglie e orologi da parete. L’amore per il design semplice e senza tempo dell’orologio Mondaine è stato diffuso, con l’orologio venduto in oltre quaranta paesi e in migliaia di punti vendita. L’orologio si trova anche esposto con orgoglio in musei famosi, stazioni ferroviarie, aeroporti e naturalmente nella stazione ferroviaria SBB.

UK orders placed before 4pm Monday–Friday are dispatched the same day. Orders placed on Saturday or Sunday are dispatched on the following working day.

When your order reaches your country, local customs authorities may apply additional charges, including:
- Import VAT or local sales tax

These charges are set by your country’s customs authority and are payable by you before delivery.
If charges are due, you’ll usually be contacted directly by the courier with a secure link to pay any applicable fees. Once cleared, your parcel will be released for delivery.

If Import Charges Are Not Paid
For DAP shipments, if local import charges, taxes, duties or courier fees are not paid, or if delivery is refused, the parcel may be returned to us.
In this case, we will refund your order minus:
- The original outbound shipping cost
- Any return shipping fees charged to us
- Any customs, duty, tax or clearance fees billed to us by the courier
